Comprehensive housing counseling services are available through  RRHA in homeownership, budgeting, mortgage default and Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) counseling. The Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority is a HUD approved housing counseling agency.

Buyers often receive special financing. In the past programs such as  the Regional Loan Fund have helped buyers by lowering the downpayment requirement and also the monthly payments.
